The brief

The company rents one open floor. Noise travels, meeting rooms are scarce, and the window side sits empty half the day.

We divide the floor by need, not by hierarchy. Focus rows face the light, meetings sit deep in the plan, and a social edge gives the team a reason to gather.

The moves

  • Focus rows at the window. Desks face the glass for daylight and view. Acoustic screens and soft flooring keep the rows quiet.
  • Meetings in the core. Phone booths and meeting rooms sit in the deep zone with full acoustic treatment. No more shouting over the floor.
  • The social edge. A café-style corner with varied seating pulls people from their desks. Breaks happen where the light is best.
  • Daylight with a dimmer. Circadian-friendly lighting and solar control keep the floor bright without glare or heat gain.

Takeaways

Acoustics decide whether an open office works.

Put desks at the window and meetings in the core.

A social edge is a productivity tool, not a luxury.
